Script Questions

As we decide that the main focus is on Danielle as a person and not her disability, my team and I decided to craft some questions to ask Danielle during the film interview that revolved around her acting career and the theatre group she is a part of.

Post Production & Editing

Background

Danielle Coles is one of many leaders at Co/Lab Theatre where she mentors, advocates, and performs. We had the opportunity to work with her for a semester in a disabilities studies class. This is a mini-film produced to get to know Danielle Coles as a person and what she does.

Storyboarding

After crafting questions, we storyboarded the main scenes that have the potential to showcase Danielle’s journey as an actress. We wanted to pay a visit to the CO/LAB theatre and collect some footage but due to privacy and difficulty in retrieving consent from CO/LAB students, we communicated with CO/LAB and they were able to provide some footage of Danielle’s past performances.

I was mainly responsible for assembling the video sequences and adjusting the audio settings. My post-production process includes reorganizing files, splicing and merging videos together for coherency, syncing audio to their respective footage, adding music, and creating captions.

The most challenging question I faced while editing was “How can I create fluidity and smooth transition from one response to another? How can I reduce any unnecessary awkward lag time?”

To counter such problems, I selected images from Danielle’s past performances that will be able to support her responses and saturate the overall mood. I was also able to group footage into sections that represent Danielle – who is she? what does she do? what are her values and motivations?
